Some can fly, some can shoot energy from their hands, and some are just really, really strong. But there are some heroes who don\u2019t wear capes, heroes who stay out of the spotlight, working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the world safe from covert threats. These are the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce&nbsp;<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/em>, the eighth campaign expansion for&nbsp;<em>Marvel Champions: The Card Game<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This campaign expansion takes us away from the flashy final battles of Avengers-level threats and instead focuses on the efforts of S.H.I.E.L.D. as they combat the forces trying to manipulate the world from the shadows\u2014including a traitor within their own agency.&nbsp;<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/em>&nbsp;comes with five brand-new scenarios, and just like with all other campaign expansions, you can play each of these scenarios individually or sequentially as part of a larger campaign. This box also kicks off a new wave of playable heroes for the game, beginning with Maria Hill and Nick Fury, both of whom come with fully pre-built and ready-to-play decks from the get-go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, we\u2019re providing a first look at the scenario content for this expansion. We\u2019ll go over the heroes in the near future. So, without further ado, let\u2019s take a look at the story of&nbsp;<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/8b\/95\/8b95bb6c-fc11-442f-b941-155daf3164dd\/mc50_announcement_article_card_fan_01.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"object-fit:cover\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-plot-unfolds\"><strong>A Plot Unfolds<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The story of\u00a0<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.\u00a0<\/em>begins with a mystery. A string of Inhuman kidnappings has been plaguing the country, and Sarah Garza\u2014a S.H.I.E.L.D. computer specialist\u2014is the latest victim. The dastardly super-scientists of A.I.M. are behind the kidnappings, but Maria Hill suspects a rat in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Executive Board may be involved as well. With all that in mind, you and your fellow heroes head to subway tunnel to confront the first obstacle in solving this crisis: Yelena Belova, also known as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/7e\/31\/7e31df5c-72c9-4a8f-9148-e4f6fa59a53a\/mc50_announcement_article_064_black_widow_card.png?_gl=1*9398u4*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Black Widow<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,\u00a0<\/em>64).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/7e\/31\/7e31df5c-72c9-4a8f-9148-e4f6fa59a53a\/mc50_announcement_article_064_black_widow_card.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A skilled spy and lethal assassin, Belova wields a similar array of gadgets and techniques to the heroic Black Widow. Whenever someone attacks Belova, a threat is removed from the main scheme, which\u00a0<em>seems<\/em>\u00a0like a good thing, except it can trigger one of the Black Widow\u2019s traps! Each attachment, minion, and treachery in her signature encounter set has a\u00a0<strong>Preparation<\/strong>\u00a0effect that can be triggered by Black Widow\u2019s ability. This means attacking her while there\u2019s threat on the main scheme comes at some serious risk; at best, an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/cb\/b4\/cbb4582b-c01a-491f-8f1e-6dd142b7d63e\/mc50_announcement_article_073_aim_grunt_card.png?_gl=1*1xrnwb2*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A.I.M. Fortunately, Black Widow\u2019s ability only triggers when there is threat for her to remove, which means if you keep the main scheme clear, you should be safe to focus your attacks on her and bring the super-spy down!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/21\/9c\/219c25f4-1136-4f0e-bf2c-370da8f359ff\/mc50_announcement_article_086a_batroc_card.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After taking down Black Widow, your investigation next leads you to the A.I.M. Island embassy, where you\u2019ll have to sneak in and get the intel you need without raising the alarm too high. Standing in your way is the mercenary\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/62\/10\/62105632-bead-447f-9c05-831b5d092b4b\/mc50_announcement_article_087b_infiltrate_aim_island_embassy_card_horizontal.png?_gl=1*13ywsw0*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Batroc<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,\u00a0<\/em>86A), but unlike most scenarios, simply defeating him won\u2019t be enough to achieve your goals. After all, you\u2019re here to rescue people, and the scenario mechanics reflect that. Batroc\u2019s hit points don\u2019t scale to the player count, but defeating him will simply reset him back to his maximum (though you\u00a0<em>do<\/em>\u00a0get some free threat removal as a reward). Since Batroc keeps getting back up each time you knock him down, your goal is instead to clear enough threat off the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/62\/10\/62105632-bead-447f-9c05-831b5d092b4b\/mc50_announcement_article_087b_infiltrate_aim_island_embassy_card_horizontal.png?_gl=1*13ywsw0*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\">main scheme<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,<\/em>\u00a087B) to advance to the next stage. Do that enough times\u2014and rescue enough\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/ac\/5f\/ac5f6ca1-8642-4248-8a86-cf02bf5cda9c\/mc50_announcement_article_091_rescued_captive_card.png?_gl=1*knprta*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">captives<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,<\/em>\u00a091)\u2014and you\u2019ll win!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you search the embassy for captives to free, you\u2019ll have to contend with the facility\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/de\/6c\/de6ce46c-54c4-4b89-ae92-ac4a57bfce0b\/mc50_announcement_article_090a_alert_level_card.png?_gl=1*b0ao5z*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alert Level<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,<\/em>\u00a090A). This starts off\u00a0<strong><em>Low<\/em><\/strong>, but every time a character is defeated\u2014including enemies\u2014a bit of threat gets added to it, increasing the pressure and shortening your timeline. Not to mention, all those people you\u2019re rescuing are bound to get the attention of embassy security. Naturally, certain cards like the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/38\/bb\/38bbb723-3146-4a8e-8c44-721dd6eef6d9\/mc50_announcement_article_093_embassy_guard_card.png?_gl=1*r4bn1*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Embassy Guard<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,<\/em>\u00a093) gain additional abilities if the Alert Level is\u00a0<strong><em>High<\/em><\/strong>, which means you\u2019re incentivized to move through the embassy as quietly as possible. Thankfully, some of the minions in this scenario have the new \u201cvulnerable\u201d keyword, which means they get discarded when they would be stunned or confused. \u201cDiscarded\u201d is not the same as \u201cdefeated,\u201d which means no threat gets added to the Alert Level. You\u2019ll have to use your skills and your wits to cover your tracks and make it through this tricky situation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/70\/34\/7034bb06-f301-4556-b1bd-afc89d9121e5\/mc50_announcement_article_103a_modok_card.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the A.I.M. embassy, your next destination is A.I.M. Island itself, stronghold of the A.I.M. organization. You finally manage to find the missing Sarah Garza, along with several other Inhuman captives that have been locked away. Unfortunately, you also run into\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/70\/34\/7034bb06-f301-4556-b1bd-afc89d9121e5\/mc50_announcement_article_103a_modok_card.png?_gl=1*up8nuw*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M.O.D.O.K.<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,<\/em>\u00a0103A), who is none too pleased about you disrupting his plans to use the Inhumans as genetic templates for his synthetic Adaptoids. Similar to the previous scenario, your primary goal here is rescue, though how you go about it is very different. Not to mention all the upgrades that M.O.D.O.K. can give himself, but we\u2019ll have to show those off some other time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-thundering-conspiracy\"><strong>A Thundering Conspiracy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After freeing the captive Inhumans, you return to D.C. for some well-deserved rest. Unfortunately, the mole in the Executive Board has made their move, marking you as rogue agents. Now you must face off against a group of superpowered foes sent to arrest you: the Thunderbolts, led by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/87\/74\/8774abc2-ef18-4dfa-b4a4-bc51a01f65f5\/mc50_announcement_article_129a_citizen_v_card.png?_gl=1*7samog*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Citizen V<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,\u00a0<\/em>129A)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/06\/9a\/069a91dc-ccff-45b0-9b23-7ac815f24219\/mc50_announcement_article_card_fan_02.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While not technically a \u201cmulti-villain\u201d scenario, the Thunderbolts absolutely take you on as a team. During setup, you choose a number of Thunderbolt-themed modular encounter sets equal to your player count plus one, and each of those encounter sets comes with an\u00a0<strong><em>Elite<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<strong><em>Thunderbolt<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0minion that you have to contend with before you can take on Citizen V himself. Not only does the main scheme,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/92\/f3\/92f37ba5-6e1c-4212-88cb-71ad1e22248b\/mc50_announcement_article_130b_apprehending_rogue_agents_card_horizontal.png?_gl=1*1ba4jzv*_gcl_au*MTEwNjQ2MjU4Ny4xNzIwNzIyNjcz*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODMxMjc4MjY0LjE3Mjc0NDU2ODE.*_ga_9350SBPQ07*MTcyNzQ0NTY3NC4xLjAuMTcyNzQ0NTY3NC42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apprehend Rogue Agents<\/a>\u00a0(<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,<\/em>\u00a0130B) give each\u00a0<strong><em>Thunderbolt<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0minion guard, but Citizen V himself also can\u2019t be defeated until you get enough of his cronies into the victory display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of the Thunderbolts may technically be minions, but they hit\u00a0<em>hard<\/em>, and they\u2019re sturdy enough to practically be full-fledged villains in their own right. The box comes with six different modular sets featuring Thunderbolts that you can use for this scenario (as well as other scenarios\u2014they are still modular encounter sets, after all), but future&nbsp;<em>Marvel Champions<\/em>&nbsp;products may come with more sets that can also be slotted in. Any modular encounter set that features an&nbsp;<strong><em>Elite<\/em><\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong><em>Thunderbolt<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;minion can qualify for this scenario, allowing all sorts of customization and ensuring that no two faceoffs against this team are alike!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By now, you may be wondering who the villain is for the fifth and final scenario of\u00a0<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.\u00a0<\/em>Unfortunately, that information has been\u2026redacted. You\u2019ll just have to wait and see who it will be!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-exposing-the-mole\"><strong>Exposing the Mole<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While we can\u2019t share who the final villain is, we\u00a0<em>can<\/em>\u00a0share an important element of the\u00a0<em>Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.\u00a0<\/em>campaign leading up to that scenario: finding the traitor!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com\/filer_public\/86\/12\/86127adc-e612-45bd-a6e7-237cca82c983\/mc50_announcement_article_diagram_image.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we\u2019ve mentioned, there\u2019s a mole in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Executive Board, and it\u2019s your job to expose them. To do that, you\u2019ll have to utilize \u201cevidence cards\u201d that you\u2019ll collect over the course of the campaigns, which represent the means, motive, and opportunity the mole had to sabotage your efforts. At the beginning of the campaign, one card from each category is secretly tucked into a special \u201cA.I.M. envelope,\u201d and the combination of symbols those cards have will reveal the identity of the traitor. Certain scenario or campaign effects can add \u201csecret counters\u201d to a board member, representing the subtle manipulations of both A.I.M. and the traitor as they try to turn the board against you. If too many secret counters accumulate on a board member, then their card flips over to their attachment side, on which they become a permanent buff for the villain.
